CodeVita is world’s largest coding contest being organized every year by TATA Consultancy Services Limited. I had solved 3 problems out of 6. These problems were mathematical in nature.

Few days after the contest ended, i received an interview call from TCS HR. My interview was scheduled in the first shift (morning).

After 2 hours my name was called for 1st round i.e Technical round

I : Good Morning Satyam, How are you ?

Me : Good Morning Sir, i am fine.

I : Satyam, give me your brief introduction.

Me : Told about my schooling, my achievements, my skill-sets and ended with telling them about my short & long term goals.

My project was based on Machile Learning, and hence i had mentioned that in my resume. This gave him a chance to throw some good questions of ML to me.

I : You have used ML in your projects ?

Me : Yes sir.

I : Ok, so tell me something about Machine Learning ?

Me : Told him the basic definition of machine learning.

I : How it is different from Artificial Intelligence ?

Me : Told by giving him examples.

I : What is deep learning ?

Me : Told him, with few “blank-face moments”.

I : Tell me different types of ML ?

Me : Told him about Supervised, Unsupervised, & Reinforcement.

I : What is Semi Supervised Learning ?

Me : (after thinking a minute), sorry sir, i don’t know.

I : Ok, explain me the algorithm that you are using for feature extraction in your project.

Me : Told.

I : Fine, quite convincing. Why Python is better than C ?

Me : (as python is my favorite language), explained him 3-5 points.

I : What do you mean by Lambda Function ?

Me : Told.

I : Ok satyam, what you know about Access modifier ?

Me : explained.

I : Ok satyam, we are done now, please wait outside.

After few minutes my name was called, and it was a kind of HR round.

Panel was including one member,

So, please tell me something about yourself.

I told him.

Are you team worker or you love working alone.

I told him that i believe in teamwork.

Have you ever been a team lead.

Yes sir, i got a couple of chances to lead my team.

Good, please tell me when ?

He wanted a proper explanation, so i explained him and he was convinced.

What are the qualities of good leader ?

Told.

Atlast he asked me about my certificates.

Now, the last round – Managerial

It was indeed a good convo. round. Discussions on personal life, some core questions about TCS, like When was TCS established ?

Why TCS, not Wipro ?

Results were announced via mail, i was SELECTED !!
