PROFILE : Power Programmer

PROGRAM : InfyTQ

PACKAGE : 8 lakhs per annum

VERDICT : Accepted

So, i am going to share my interview experience for Power Programmer role at Infosys. I cracked InfyTQ examination with 65% and was offered SE profile (3.60 lpa). As per their policy, once you clear this certification program (+ HR interview) then you are provided a chance of upgrading your job profile and hence your package. Same happened with me. After few days, i was invited to participate in InfyTQ Upgrade Test. It is a web-proctored coding contest. It was 180 minutes long coding challenge containing 3 coding problems. These problems were of different difficulty level – you may encounter one easy| one medium| and one hard problem. Problems may be based on string, array, or even complex data structures like tree or graph. I was able to solve all three coding problems within the given time range. Hence was called for PPI for Power Programmer Role. My friends who solved 2 or more problems were also called for PP role(interview) and one who solved less than two problems (but more than 1) was called for SES interview.

See, their main aim of interview to test your logic building skills and how optimized you are in your solution.

Mine was on skype. And the interviewer was himself a power programmer. So, this is how it went :

I : Good Morning dear, please be at your comfort zone.

I also greeted him with a smile, but to be honest i was bit nervous.

I : Please tell me something about yourself ?

To be honest, i was just waiting for this question. For me, it was kind a bonus which will help me to create a strong impression in front of an interviewer. With my calm and compose attitude, it told him him about my skill sets, projects, my achievements, workshops. It took apprx 3-4 minutes and he was just listening, listening and listening. Although he was a kind of impressed with me.

I : Great, you did so many things and that too on your own.

Me : (accepted his appreciation)

I : So, do you love DS ?

Me : Yes sir, very much.

I : But why ?

Me : Sir, DS forms the backbone of computer science. No one can imagine progress in CS without data structures.

I : Ok, so i am going to ask you three questions on Data Structures.

Me : Ok sir.

I : Write a program that checks whether a string is palindromic in nature.

Explained him O(n) solution.

I : Write algorithm for Heap Sort.

Explained. He further asked me to dry run it as well.

I : Write a program that find the length of linked list.

Told him the solution having linear time complexity.

And the big thing, he was convinced !

After this, he asked me some questions on Python (as it was mentioned in my resume).

Explain the concept of lambda function.

What is ‘self ‘ ?

Explain me the difference between python2 and python3 ?

Tell me the difference between list & tuple ?

What is the use of regex ?

I answered all 5 questions.

And next my college TPO told me that i am selected, it was a great feel of satisfaction.
